Rachel Maddow Advises Trump Family To Get ‘Good Lawyers’ As Russia Investigation Intensifies

On Thursday’s edition of The Rachel Maddow Show, the MSNBC star explained that the direction of Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation doesn’t bode well for the White House, particularly Donald Trump’s closest advisers and family members.

With Donald Trump Jr.’s private testimony today making it increasingly clear that Mueller is looking into the long and disturbing pattern of administration lies about secret meetings with Russia, Maddow said everybody up to and including the president’s family members will “need good lawyers.”

Maddow said:

If the special counsel is now investigating administration officials for making misleading statements about ties to Russia, well yeah, that Donald Trump Sr. and Jr. statement lying about the purpose of the Trump Tower meeting with all the Russians – that’s probably a good place to start. … A lot of people in the administration, up to including the White House communications staff and senior advisers to the president and the vice president himself and the president’s family members – they’re all going to need good lawyers if Robert Mueller is going to start nailing people for that.

As the MSNBC host said, Donald Trump Jr. isn’t the only person who will need good representation if Mueller is going after everybody in Trump’s circle that has made misleading or false statements about campaign-season contacts with Russia.

Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, Carter Page, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Vice President Mike Pence and even the President of the United States – among others – have also fudged the facts and covered up meetings with Moscow officials in 2016.

If the special counsel investigation is zeroing in on those undisclosed contacts with Russia – and the subsequent efforts to cover them up – then a lot of people in the White House should be very nervous tonight.
