Trump blamed Obama while claiming that he loves the Dreamers and is going to do things right while preparing to potentially deport 800,000 immigrants.

Trump said, “Well, I have a great heart for the folks we’re talking about — a great love for them. And people think in terms of children, but they’re really young adults. I have a love for these people, and hopefully now Congress will be able to help them and do it properly. And I can tell you, in speaking to members of Congress, they want to be able to do something and do it right. And really, we have no choice. We have to be able to do something, and I think it’s going to work out very well. And long-term, it’s going to be the right solution.”
By claiming that he is going to do things right, Trump was back door blaming former President Obama for DACA. This has been a recurring theme in Trump’s presidency. When Donald Trump is about to do something unpopular, the first thing that he does is blame Obama. Trump also the groundwork for step two of his usual pattern by setting Congress up to take the blame for the deportation of the Dreamers if a bill does not get passed.
Nowhere in the President’s remarks did he take any responsibility for the decision that he made to kill the DACA program. There was no urgent need to end DACA right now. Trump never defends his decisions or takes responsibility for them. He blames Obama and Congress, but he never steps up to lead.
Nobody is buying Trump’s claim that he loves the Dreamers. If he really cared, he would keep the program in place and push Congress to come up with a legislative solution. The Trump administration has done the opposite. They have ended the program and sent the message to Congress that they don’t care about Dreamers.
Trump is a fraud, and blaming Obama can’t absolve him of the fall out that is going to come with his decision to potentially deport 800,000 immigrants.
