Trump mind broke during a press conference as he admitted that the US would be funding the border wall, but he also tried to claim that Mexico would pay for it.

Trump said, “We need the wall. It’s imperative. We may fund it through the United States, but ultimately, Mexico will pay for the wall.”
The President repeated his threat to shut down the government, and then went into full Fox News fear mode, “The wall is needed from the standpoint of security. The wall is needed from the standpoint of drug. Tremendous drug, the drug scourge, what’s coming through that area through the areas that we’re talking about.”
You can watch Trump pause as he tries to figure how he can splice a lie on to the truth. Trump knows that Mexico is never going to pay for the wall. The Mexican government has told him this numerous times. He also knows that he promised his supporters that Mexico would pay for the wall, so Trump tried to claim that the US would fund the wall, but Mexico would pay for it.
Funding a wall is the same as paying for it, which is a concept Trump hopes that his supporters don’t understand. If the US funds the wall, that means that American taxpayers are paying for it. Trump is getting his tariffs against Mexico or any of his other crazy ideas designed to get money out of our southern neighbor.
Trump can’t square this circle, which is why his mind can’t handle his border wall lie.
