Hoping to overpower a planned right-wing rally in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, up to 20,000 counter-protesters turned out to say that Nazis and white supremacists “are not welcome” in America.
According to a local reporter who appeared on MSNBC’s AM Joy on Saturday, counter-protesters “way outnumber” the right-wing demonstrators who initially planned the “free speech” event.
Video:
“There may be 20,000 or more of them,” the reporter told Joy Reid, saying the police are “confident” that they will outnumber the right-wing demonstrators.
Video on the ground also shows anti-hate marchers peacefully demonstrating and chanting, “No hate, no fear, Nazis are not welcome here!”

While the Charlottesville violence and hate – and Trump’s stunningly disturbing response thereafter – have represented a dark moment in American history, it’s clear that the vast majority of the country is having none of it.
That is why at this hour, thousands upon thousands of people are in Boston to stand up to Trump his white supremacist supporters to say in one voice: This is not what America stands for.
