Another Trump Family Member Going Down As Questions Raised About Ivanka’s Security Clearance

Former Ambassador Rep. Don Beyer‏ shared a security clearance form containing directions that you must fill out a declaration of all foreign contacts by the clearance holder “or your spouse.”

Ivanka Trump’s spouse is Jared Kushner.

Rep. Beyer is right to point out that Trump has put Ivanka and her husband in high positions in our government, and therefore they must abide by the same rules as anyone else. They are not just the President’s children.

Ivanka Trump is getting attention now because of revelations this week that her husband, Jared Kushner, was also in attendance in a Trump Tower meeting with Donald Trump, Jr. and Russian officials ostensibly in order to get dirt on Hillary Clinton. This meeting is just one chapter in the ongoing theme of deception when it comes to the Trump administration and Russia.

So the question is raised: Did Ivanka Trump disclose the meetings that Jared updated his security forms three times to mention? The form asks that you identify any contact had by you or any member of your immediate family in the past seven years “with a foreign government, its establishment (such as embassy, consulate, agency, military service, intelligence or security service, etc.) or its representatives, whether inside or outside the U.S.?”

Immediate family is your spouse, parents, and siblings. The penalty for knowingly falsifying or concealing information is fines and or up to five years in prison.

The U.S. Criminal Code (title 18, section 1001) provides that knowingly falsifying or concealing a material fact is a felony which may result in fines and/or up to five (5) years imprisonment. In addition, Federal agencies generally fire, do not grant a security clearance, or disqualify individuals who have materially and deliberately falsified these forms, and this remains a part of the permanent record for future placements.
