Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski notified NBC executives as President Trump and Senior White House Adviser Jared Kushner attempted to blackmail them, which means that the Morning Joe hosts took precautions and have witnesses who can back up their story.
NPR’s David Folkenflik reported:
Brzezinski and Scarborough have texts, phone records, and also tapes to support their story that Kushner and Trump tried to blackmail them into not criticizing the President with the threat of a National Enquirer story that would expose their relationship.
The Morning Joe hosts took many of the same steps in dealing with Trump as former FBI Director James Comey, who also maintained physical evidence of his conversations with Trump and briefed trusted staff on his interactions with the President.
If Trump were an honest person, who wasn’t engaging in corrupt and potentially illegal activities those who interacted with him would not have to take steps to protect themselves. Just like in the situation with James Comey, Trump created his own problems by personally attacking someone and then lying. This president’s potential mental and emotional issues will be his undoing. When it comes to the Brzezinski/Scarborough story, it isn’t a he said/they said issue. It is a case of the president once again lying, while the people he is smearing and threatening have evidence and witnesses to back up their story.
Trump better hope that this never becomes a criminal investigation, because the Morning Joe hosts have got witnesses.
