Trump Makes One Of His Most Incoherent Statements Yet After GOP Health Bill Stalls

Hours after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell delayed a vote on disastrous legislation that would kick millions of Americans off their health insurance plans, Donald Trump met with GOP senators at the White House in an attempt to save the bill.

During the meeting, Trump went off on one of his most incoherent ramblings to date, first explaining how important it is to pass the health care bill, and then immediately saying it’s “okay” if it fails.

Video:

Trump said, “This will be great if we get it done. And if we don’t get it done, it’s just going to be something that we’re not going to like, and that’s okay, and I understand that very well. But I think we have to do something very, very important for the public.”

There isn’t much sense to be made of Trump’s remarks, but it appears the president is attempting to downplay expectations as the GOP’s effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act continues to fail miserably.

During the gathering, Trump also said that Obamacare is “melting down,” though it’s actually his own health care legislation that continues to crash and burn, both in the halls of Congress and the court of public opinion.

According to a recent poll, only 16 percent of the country supported the House version of Trumpcare, which is very similar to what the Senate produced this week.

Delaying the vote until after the July 4 recess, as Republicans have decided to do, is likely to hurt, not help, GOP chances of getting this legislation through Congress. The more people learn about the legislation, the more they oppose it and want to preserve Obamacare.

Trump’s incoherent rambling on Tuesday isn’t likely to change that.
