As Republicans were again forced to delay their Obamacare repeal effort on Tuesday, Rachel Maddow pointed out that the collapse of the GOP health care bill is merely the latest example of how the Trump administration is failing miserably to get anything done.
As the MSNBC star pointed out, it’s been months since Trump took office and he still has yet to sign into a law any “substantive piece of legislation of any kind.”
That’s with complete Republican control of the government.

Maddow said:
They didn’t need any Democrats to [pass Trumpcare]. This was a Republicans-only affair, and as Republicans, today they failed. Which means, it remains a strange hallmark of the Trump era in Washington that, even with a new Republican president, even with a large Republican majority in the House and Republican control of the Senate, too, it has now been more than 150 days of this new administration – with unified Republican control in Washington – and they have yet to pass a single substantive piece of legislation of any kind.
As Maddow pointed out, the GOP failure to pass legislation they’ve been promising to pass for almost a decade is bad enough. To be unable to do it with a Republican president in a GOP-controlled Congress is a massive embarrassment.
It’s one thing to fail to accomplish anything substantive with opposition control of Congress. But the inability of Trump to achieve anything during his first six months in office with his party in control is pretty pathetic.
Contrast that with former President Barack Obama, who was able to accomplish a great deal during his two years because he wasn’t deeply unpopular or hemorrhaging support among members of his own party.
With political winds only likely to shift more strongly against this president, if he can’t accomplish anything substantive now, it’s unlikely he’ll ever be able to.
