Meet Democrat Randy Bryce, an iron worker who launched a campaign against Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and raised $100,000 in the first 24 hours according to his campaign.
“Activist, Ironworker, life-long resident of Wisconsin, & running for Congress against Speaker Paul Ryan,” Bryce describes himself. Oh, he’s also a single dad.
In this campaign video, the 20 year iron worker Bryce talks about how we need to look out for one another. He opens on Paul Ryan celebrating the signing of Trumpcare and moves on to his own mom, who has a preexisting condition – MS.
Eric Levitz of New York Magazine referred to Bryce in this ad as, “Bruce Springsteen’s discography has taken on human form — and now it’s trying to kick Paul Ryan out of Congress” and noted that, “The ironworker is a cancer survivor, Army veteran, political coordinator for his union, and member of the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors. His memorable Twitter handle — @IronStache — evinces a savviness for social media.”

“My values are my neighbors’ values, and we know that Washington has gotten way off track,” Bryce said on his campaign site. “Whether it’s healthcare or jobs, national security or education, our democracy or the environment – there’s not one issue where Paul Ryan and Donald Trump are headed in the right direction. It’s time for a change in Congress.”
“My mother has multiple sclerosis, my father is in assisted living, and I survived cancer in my 20s to have a miracle child in my 40s,” said Bryce. “What Paul Ryan and the Republicans are doing to take health care away from millions of us, to make it cost more and cover less, and to allow the protections we’ve gained to be stripped away – it’s just unacceptable.”
Bryce is a long shot for a district that doesn’t seem to like Paul Ryan but keeps sending him back to Congress anyway. However, according to Bryce’s campaign:
