During an interview on Face The Nation, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) warned Trump that he might be the first president in history to go down because he won’t stop talking about the investigation.

After saying all the usual Republican stuff about how Trump has a great agenda, and that he didn’t collude with Russia, or obstruct justice, Graham added, “Here’s what’s frustrating to Republicans like me. You may be the first president in history to go down because you can’t stop inappropriately talking about an investigation that if you just were quiet, would clear you.”
Republicans are living in quite the fantasy land if they believe that the Russia investigation is going to clear Trump. The reason why the President won’t stop talking is that he is worried about what the investigation has uncovered. If Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia, Trump is not cleared. If Trump’s son in law colluded with Russia via a data operation, Trump is not cleared.
Beneath Sen. Graham’s shiny happy Republican rhetoric, there is a reality that needs to be addressed. Republicans aren’t getting anything done because Trump’s daily need for drama is sucking the air out of everything around him. Republicans want Trump to shut the hell up so that they can get things done.
The GOP already knows that 2018 is going to be a bad year for them, but if they walk into the midterm elections with no major legislative accomplishments, the outcome will even worse.
Trump could very well go down because he would not stop talking, but the odds of this president listening to anyone and keeping quiet are zero.
