Jeff Sessions Can’t Hide As Senate Intel Democrat Demands AG Appear In Public Hearing

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) told Senate Intelligence Committee leadership that the public has a right to hear the testimony of Jeff Sessions, so the committee should hold the Attorney General’s hearing in public.

Here is the letter that Sen. Wyden wrote to Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) and Ranking Member Mark Warner (D-VA):

Sen. Wyden was correct. There is no reason for Sessions to testify in closed session. Jeff Sessions has been getting special treatment from the Republican Senate majority since he was nominated by Trump to the nation’s next attorney general, and it must end now.

James Comey brought up issues related to Jeff Sessions and his contacts with Russia that the public needs to hear about to get to the bottom of what happened during the 2016 presidential elections. The decision by Sessions to bail on all of his scheduled public testimony points to a White House that is hunkering down and refusing to answer questions under oath about the Russia scandal.

Attorney General Sessions is currently under FBI investigation for unreported contacts with Russia. The Attorney General of the United States is trying to hide from public accountability and investigators. Sen. Wyden deserves praise for demanding that the Sessions hearing be held in public.

Jeff Sessions is trying to hide, which is why it is up to every concerned American to call Burr and Warner and demand that the Sessions hearing be held in public.
