Meet The Right Wing Extremist To Whom Trump Wants To Give A Key Department Of Labor Job

Meet Curtis Ellis, a right-wing extremist on par with Steve Bannon and Mike Flynn, who accused Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton of conspiring to achieve ethnic cleansing of white working people. He is reported to be a Trump finalist for a U.S. Department of Labor international affairs job.

Billed on TV as a Trump adviser during the campaign but not listed officially, Ellis once posited in an Alex-Jones-meets-Mike-Flynn style thought process that progressives wanted the “death of white working people.”

Ben Penn, a Bloomberg labor reporter, reported Monday morning, “Ellis—who has written for controversial conservative publications and is aligned with White House adviser Steve Bannon—has emerged as one of two contenders to run the DOL’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The little-known deputy undersecretary position at ILAB is considered an essential piece of the White House push to restore U.S. manufacturing jobs by cracking down on labor abuses overseas.”

Prepare yourself because this guy is already representing the DOL to foreign governments, “He has already been attending ILAB meetings and representing the bureau to foreign governments as a temporary political appointee.”

In a World Net Daily column, Ellis sounded as far off the reality path as Alex Jones and Mike Flynn arguing that Obama and Clinton literally want to kill white working people (my bold), “If you believe, as do the leftists, that America has more than it deserves and Americans are racists, the global redistribution of our wealth and the death (literally) of white working people is a desired outcome, a feature not a bug.”

More if you can stomach it:

“Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama want us to believe that the disappearance of American jobs in ‘the new global economy’ is as inevitable as the sun rising in the east. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the radical left planned the liquidation of white, blue-collar working families in order to ‘fundamentally transform” America.’”

Alex Griswold at Mediaite noted in August of 2016 that Trump’s chief strategist Steve Bannon endorsed Ellis’ column, “I want everyone to read this article,” declared Bannon in a SiriusXM interview with Ellis, “We’re going to have you start to come on more on a regular basis.”

Here Ellis in World Net Daily claimed that job training is “re-education” and leads to “extermination”, “‘Retraining’? More like re-education & extermination.”

If indeed this man is a finalist for an international affairs Department of Labor job in the Trump Administration, it seems absolutely in line with Donald Trump’s history of staffing his administration with people whose resumes often actually read as qualifications for destroying the department or entity for which Trump has chosen them.

Penn in Bloomberg quoted a human rights nonprofit stakeholder’s warning about Ellis, “It’s alarming to think our diplomatic counterparts could Google this guy and find these paranoid and xenophobic rantings. It would immediately undermine him and place at risk the U.S. leadership on promoting labor rights as part of the global trade agenda.”

Making America Great Again, Trump style.

It should come as no surprise that the Birther Conspiracy Artist that was Donald Trump is now the President Conspiracy Artist drawn to foggy, paranoid thinking and wild accusations presented without any substantiating evidence. This is what conservatives wanted.

ProPublica wrote in a March 2017 piece, “Ellis was hired Jan. 20 as a special assistant to the secretary at the Labor Department. Asked about his role in a brief phone interview Tuesday, he said: ‘Nothing I can tell you.'”

“Despite being with the department for four months, Ellis still does not seem to understand the most basic aspects of the work,” a senior Department of Labor source told Bloomberg BNA. “There is widespread concern that if this is the person who represents the interests of the American workforce in international negotiations and other foreign affairs, other countries are going to eat our lunch. It won’t end well for American workers.”

Greg Autry, who was on the American Jobs Alliance’s advisory board while Ellis was in charge, disagreed, telling Bloomberg, “I believe Curtis is a friend to the American worker and by extension a friend to workers globally.”

That may well be, but Ellis’ thinking problems and lack of judgment are the issue, not his intentions. Plenty of people consider themselves to be friends to American workers but are not fit to be an international voice for the Department of Labor.

While we focus on the important shiny ball of Russia, Trump is busy destroying the United States’ international standing from within.
