A US Senator Just Accused Trump Of Obstruction Of Justice As Comey Firing Gets Criminal

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) accused Trump of obstructing justice by firing James Comey to interfere with the Russia investigation.

Video:

During an interview on MSNBC, Sen. Van Hollen said, “The issue here is they keep changing their story. And they keep changing the story because they don’t want people to know which is the obvious truth. I mean, the president kind of said it. He wanted to fire him. He said it was because he wasn’t doing his job, but we know that not what the president thought. He didn’t think that after the election, right? He praised Comey for doing a good job with the Clinton emails, and so, he fired him obviously as an attempt to interfere in this investigation into collusion with the Russians, and they keep changing the story, and it keeps getting shot down again, and again, and again.”

Interference with an investigation is the literal definition of obstruction of justice. When Sen. Van Hollen accused Trump of interfering in the Russia investigation, he was also accusing the president of committing a crime by obstructing the FBI investigation into the Trump campaign’s potential collusion with the Russian government during the 2016 election.

The Comey firing has taken a quick turn towards criminality. When a US Senator is suggesting that the President Of The United States committed a crime when he fired the FBI director, things are going downhill fast for the White House.

The next stop for Trump and cronies could be criminal court if Democrats will back all or part of Congress in 2018.
