Ivanka Trump’s propaganda about her father’s support for women and families did not go over well at the W20 Summit. When she tried to sell her dad as a champion of family issues like paid leave, she was met with boos and groans from the audience.
Video:
Trump said, “The United States one of the only countries in the world. The only developed country in the world not to have a paid leave policy for families, so that’s something I’m very proud of my father’s advocacy. Long before he came to the presidency, but during the campaign and in the primaries, he’s been a tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them.”
The audience booed, grumbled, and groaned.
The moderator said, “You hear the reaction from the audience. I need to address one more point, some attitudes toward women your father has displayed might leave one questioning whether he’s such an empowerer for women.”
Ivanka Trump retreated to the rhetoric of the 2016 campaign, “I’ve certainly heard the criticism from the media, that’s been perpetuated. As a daughter, I can speak on a very personal level. I grew up in a house where there was no barriers to what I could accomplish beyond my own perseverance and tenacity. That’s not an easy thing to do, he provided that for us. There was no difference.”
It’s not the media that is criticizing Donald Trump. The President is a self-admitted serial sexual assaulter. The excuse that her dad was never bad to her has never explained away how Trump admitted that he takes pleasure in sexually assaulting women.
Ivanka Trump deserved to be booed for trying to float that BS in front of a global audience. Trump recently a bill that would allow states to defund Planned Parenthood. On a personal level, Trump has been married three times and has shown no regard for the value of family.
Actions speak louder that words. Trump gave one speech on family leave compared to accusations that he sexually assaulted or harassed dozens of women. That math doesn’t add up to a president who is a champion of women and families.
