Evidence has surfaced that President Trump was lying about his friendship with the departed legend. The reality is that Pavarotti and his family can’t stand Trump.

At a joint press conference with Trump said, “Through the ages, your country has been a beacon of artistic and scientific achievement — and that continues today — from Venice to Florence, from Verdi to Pavarotti, a friend of mine. Great friend of mine. These bonds of history and culture have only grown stronger as our two nations have become close partners, dear friends, and very vital allies.”
The reality according to Pavarotti’s family is that there was no friendship. According to The Independent, the family said in a statement during the presidential campaign, “As members of his immediate family, we would like to recall that the values of brotherhood and solidarity which Luciano Pavarotti expressed throughout the course of his artistic career are entirely incompatible with the world view offered by the candidate Donald Trump.”
There was no friendship there. Donald Trump was once again lying. The Independent reports that tensions grew between Pavarotti and Trump after Trump booked the tenor for a performance at one of his properties in 2002 and then demanded a refund.
No lie is too small for Donald Trump to spread in order to make himself look bigger. A president who can lie with such ease on the world stage is a danger to global security and can be trusted by no one at any time. The Pavarotti fiasco adds to the growing list of reasons why Trump has zero credibility.
