The AP Calls Out Trump for His Lie Claiming Credit for Kentucky Toyota Jobs

President Trump took credit for creating “over 600,000 jobs already” saying “It’s really starting to catch on,” on Tuesday during a meeting with business leaders according to a White House pool report sent to PoliticusUSA. He then he praised Toyota for investing “it’s probably going to be $1.9 billion” into one of its Kentucky plants, again taking credit for this saying it was “an investment that would not have been made if we didn’t win the election.”

Trump also said this in a statement issued by Toyota, “Toyota’s decision to invest $1.3 billion in their Kentucky plant is further evidence that manufacturers are now confident that the economic climate has greatly improved under my administration.”

But nope. Toyota says the move was planed before Trump even announced he was running for President let alone won the election, according to an AP fact check.

The AP called out President Trump for his lie claiming credit for the Toyota jobs in a Kentucky plant, “THE FACTS: Trump had nothing to do with the changes that Toyota announced. The company says it’s the culmination of plans in the works for at least four years.”

Trump’s other comments can use correcting as well. Trump has been riding on Obama’s coattails in terms of job creation – President Obama made history creating the most private sector jobs of any modern president – but in March, that progress suddenly changed for the worse.

In March, only half as many jobs were created in March as economists anticipated.

Unlike conservatives cheering for a bad economy and refusing to help create jobs under Obama, if Trump really were creating good jobs here, it would be great news. It would be the one positive thing to come from his presidency so far. But sadly, he is factually creating less jobs than Obama, and he is not responsible for the Toyota decision in Kentucky.
