Donald Trump’s supporters among the so-called Religious Right, who sold their souls to follow him, haven’t hesitated to double-down on their pre-election rhetoric, no matter how far off the biblical deep-end their messiah goes.
Michele Bachmann, for example, recently appeared on Last Days radio program “Understanding the Times with Jan Markell,” only to demonstrate her own massive failure to understand the Bible.
According to Bachmann, Trump’s opponents are rebelling against God to bring about “the creation of a manmade, one-world system. And scripture tells us that in the End Times, that is what Antichrist will be, he will be a part of a one-world system.”

“There are people who reject Judeo-Christian truth and instead want to insert and usurp control of all of our lives with a global, economic and political government.”
Never mind the word “globalism” appearing in exactly 0 places in the Bible, Old or New Testament so it is a weak reed to grasp, appealing to the Bible in opposition to something the Bible doesn’t mention.
Conservative Christians, of course, have long promoted their own one-world system. They have done so in this country for better than 200 years and in complete contradiction to and violation of the United States Constitution.
And then there is Mary Colbert who claimed on “The Jim Bakker Show” that Trump is the “chosen one” of God – meaning in no uncertain terms, the messiah:
It’s not that Donald Trump is all that perfect of a guy. We all know he’s not. And we know that he’s not necessarily perfect in every way that we would like. That’s not how God works. He works through the ones he chooses. We don’t choose them. All we have to do is recognize them and when you recognize a chosen one and you have the discernment to know that they’ve been chosen and know that that’s the will of God, then your life will be blessed. And if you come against the chosen one of God, you are bringing upon you and your children and your children’s children curses like you have never seen. It puts a holy fear in me.
Well, let me tell you how the Constitution works: Political power derives from the will of the people, not your god nor any other god or gods (mine included). It doesn’t matter how Colbert thinks her god works because it’s completely irrelevant to that Constitution, which says people, not God, choose their rulers.
Democracy puts “holy fear” into Colbert. What ought to put holy fear into her is that her thought processes have not only enabled but anointed as leader a guy who stands for the exactly opposite of all the things Jesus professed to believe.
The Religious Right chose Donald Trump as their messiah by literally anointing him. Nothing they have seen since, however awful, has even tempted them to apostasy of their earthly lord and savior.
This puts them out of the mainstream of not only their own co-religionists, but with the vast majority of the American people, most of whom have come to recognize what a terrible, terrible mistake it was to elect Donald Trump.
