During his daily briefing at the White House, Press Secretary Sean Spicer admitted that Trump’s wants to cut health care first so that he can maximize tax cuts for the wealthy in 2018.

Spicer was asked Trump regrets doing a health care bill first.
The Press Secretary answered, “No. I think if you think about it legislatively. In order to maximize, and I know that for most people it doesn’t make a ton of sense, but the savings that you achieve through the first reconciliation of health care, which we are doing through the 2017 budget process, which still continues, allows us to utilize the savings in that process to maximize additional tax reform measures that will start in the 2018, FY 2018 reconciliation process.”
In plain English, what the Press Secretary was saying is that Trump wants to take away health care from 24 million people and use the projected savings to help to pay for his tax cuts. The top one-percent of earners will get 50% of the benefits of Trump’s tax plan, while the middle class and poor will see their taxes increase.
Democrats have correctly called the Republican health care plan a tax cut bill, but it is the first piece of a larger puzzle that involves redistributing wealth to the top. Spicer admitted that the money saved is going to go into the pockets of rich people.
The White House can try to hide their motives behind mumbo jumbo about maximization, but the truth is Trump is going to take away health care from 24 million Americans to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy.
