Former NSA and current national security columnist John Schindler was not impressed with Republican House Intel Committee Chair Devin Nunes’ desperate outing of (alleged) incidental collection on Wednesday.
Instead of it exonerating President Donald Trump from his unfounded, wild accusation against President Obama, Schindler wrote, “We are now just one diligent special prosecutor away from a whole bunch of Republicans getting indicted for major crimes over #TrumpRussia.”
The spies are not happy with Rep. Nunes performance today.
Suffice it to say, every move Donald Trump and his allies take in this Trump Russia investigation is an example of what not to do if you are under investigation, especially if the reason you’re under investigation involves our national security. Kicking the intelligence community in the face and stabbing them in the back while you misrepresent and impugn their work and deny what they seem to have proof of is just not a great plan.
It’s becoming more and more obvious why Republicans are refusing to appoint a special prosecutor and call for a legitimately independent investigation, and are instead enabling, giving cover for, and assisting the Trump Russia connection.
