While discussing the court blocking of the Trump administration’s second attempt at a Muslim ban, Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) called White House, “the gang that couldn’t shoot straight.”
Video:
Himes said, “Well, you know I am not surprised that the court in Hawaii put a restraining order on the order. On this topic, this is the gang that can’t shoot straight. I’m glad they can’t shoot straight, because the travel ban is a terrible idea, and don’t take it from me. Take it from the Department of Homeland Security that says that your origin is not a good predictor of the likelihood that you commit terrorism. The gang that couldn’t shoot straight has taken every opportunity to say this is just like the other executive order. You know, the president is on record as saying we’re going to a Muslim ban. You know, facts matter, perhaps not in the Oval Office, but facts do matter to judges.”
For all of their tough talk, bluster, and threats, the one characteristic that has defined the Trump administration is incompetence. Their Muslim ban has been rejected twice by the courts. The administration’s first piece of major legislation is going down in flames due to a lack of leadership from the White House.
Republicans had fantasies of hitting the ground running, but thanks in large part to White House incompetence, they have face planted on the pavement.
The Trump administration may have bad intentions for a majority of Americans, but when it comes to being able to get things done, Donald Trump has been an incompetent president.
