Top Republican Goes To Insane Lengths To Try To Defend The Crazy In The Oval Office

It’s come to this for Republicans charged with defending Donald Trump and his crazy tinfoil claims.

House Intel Chair Devin Nunes went for the Donald Trump uses words but they don’t mean anything defense on Wednesday, saying, “Are you going to take the tweets literally? And if you are, then clearly the president is wrong.”

Oh, are you?

Are you meanies going to take Trump literally?

Here’s the gold, “But if you’re not going to take the tweets literally and there’s a concern that the president has about other people, other surveillance activities looking at him or his associates… we want to find that out. I think it’s all in the interpretation of what you believe.”

Literally, Nunes made no sense.

Who is going to tell Republicans that the problem is a president has only words with which to communicate with other leaders and so words matter. Yeah, accusing a former President and your predecessor of a crime with no evidence is a problem. It wasn’t a joke.

There is no other way to take those claims but “literally” because language.

Because words.

Because when given chance and chance again to walk it back, the Trump administration fell over itself with Obama is in your microwave conspiracy beliefs to soothe the wild beast inside of the President.

All of Trump’s problems are Obama’s fault. This is a narrative Trump relies on so heavily that he (inaccurately and falsely) blamed Obama for his own failed Yemen raid.

Accusing a former world leader of a crime with no evidence isn’t a matter we should take figuratively. What would that even mean?

The scariest thing here is that this is all real. Donald Trump is this paranoid and obviously unaware of how evidence and facts work. He just makes things up and believes things he reads that make him feel good.

Donald Trump has the red button, so yes, we’re going to be taking his words literally. Perhaps he might want to start doing the same by thinking before he speaks or tweets.

Nunes said, “It’s all in the interpretation of what you believe.”

Because for Republicans, beliefs are now on par with evidence and facts.

Republicans are doing their very best to defend the indefensible, now resorting to you shouldn’t take the president literally but his “concerns” should be addressed while we ignore his accusations.

Put another way, Republicans will be going on the witchhunt, with your tax dollars, to look for the Obama boogeyman under Trump’s bed that we all know does not exist. Is not, if you will, literal.

The Obama boogeyman is in Trump’s head, and so Nunes will be having a fine figurative time tracking that down on your dime, while ignoring the President’s charges.

It should be noted that Republicans do not think Trump owes Obama an apology for this, or the birther fever that drove Trump for eight years. So when they whine about Obama, it’s more offensive than it even appears on the surface.
