Late Night King David Letterman Calls Donald Trump a ‘Stupid Son of a B*tch’

In an interview at Vulture, David Letterman dishes out on Donald Trump and how he really feels: Trump, he says, is a “stupid son of a bitch.”

“But the idea of Twitter: Trumpy — my son, Harry, and I call him ‘Trumpy’ — has really got something with it. Rather than a laughable expression of ego run amok, it could be a useful tool.”

“If we get a president sometime soon who does not have a mental disorder, Twitter will be useful,” Letterman added, ignoring calls from doctors to cease calling Trump mentally ill. Because mentally ill people can be nice people.

Letterman said of Trump’s team that “Kellyanne Conway was my favorite for a long time…And poor Sean Spicer is a boob who just got out of a cab and now here he is.” Asked about Stephen Miller he said, “Wow, that guy is creepy. He fell out of a truck.”

Nice to know it wasn’t just us who had that very visceral reaction. Nor did Letterman ignore Steve Bannon, asking a question many of us have asked:

“And he hires the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Steve Bannon, to be his little buddy. Bannon looks like a guy who goes to lunch, gets drunk, and comes back to the office: ‘Steve, could you have just one drink?’ ‘Fuck you.’ How is a white supremacist the chief adviser to our president?”

Letterman said of Trump’s attack on John Lewis,

“He’s ignorant in a way that’s insulting to the office, insulting to America, insulting to human rights, insulting to civil rights, insulting to John Lewis. Trump saying that broke my heart. I thought, ‘You stupid son of a bitch. You ought to have known better than that.’”

We have seen the effects of satire on Republicans, from Stephen Colbert on down. Letterman said it is a useful tool against Donald Trump as well:

“The man has such thin skin that if you keep pressure on him…Eventually Trump’s going to take a fastball off the sternum and have to leave the game.”

Letterman told Vulture, “How do you know if Donald Trump is lying? His lips are moving,” and that data backs that up, as the assiduous fact-checking of Toronto Star’s Daniel Dale proves.

Letterman said if he were still doing his show they’d have to haul him off stage to stop him talking about Trump. I suspect the audience would be calling him back for an encore.
