Trump Insults African-Americans By Praising Slave States At Museum of African American History

The White House sent President Trump to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History, but the President couldn’t help himself and had to devote part of his off the cuff remarks to bragging about the margin of his election win in former slave states.

Video:

The President said, “I also want to thank Sen. Tim Scott for joining us today. A friend of mine. A great great Senator from South Carolina. I like the state of South Carolina. I like all of those states where I won by double double double digits. You know, South Carolina was one.”

President Trump was visiting the National Museum of African American History and praised former slave states for giving him his biggest margins of victory.

Here is a map of former slave states:

Compare that map to the map of states where Trump won the popular vote:

Only three former slave states voted for Hillary Clinton, Delaware, Virginia, and Maryland.

Those states that Trump was bragging about included South Carolina (+14), Alabama (+28), Mississippi (+18), Tennessee (+26), Kentucky (+30), Louisiana (+20), Missouri (+28), and Arkansas (+27). Trump won by single digits in former slave states North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Georgia.

President Trump proved once again that he is never going to be able to rehabilitate his image because he can’t stop insulting minorities and implying racism on a regular basis. Trump is so insecure that he had to brag about the margin of his election win in a state like South Carolina, which is a former slave state, while he was visiting a museum that is dedicated to the history of the African-American struggle.

Even when he is trying to do and say the right things, Trump can’t help but let his inner bigot shine through. What he did was disrespectful to the museum and an insult to African-Americans. Trump’s remarks demonstrated that this man is incapable of being a president for all Americans because everything is always about him.
