Questioned About Anti-Semitism Trump Answers by Bragging About Electoral Win

During a joint press conference today with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Donald Trump answered a question about anti-Semitism and racism in the US by bragging up his electoral win.

Let’s make this clear: The question was what Trump would do about rising anti-Semitism and racism. The answer was to brag about his electoral win. “You know that, right?” he asked Netanyahu.

Israeli journalist Moav Vardi asked Trump to answer allegations that his administration is “playing with xenophobia and maybe racist tones,” and Donald Trump could not answer without bragging about his very historically low electoral win:

“I just want to say that we are very honored by the victory we had, 306 electoral college votes. We were not supposed to crack 220. You know that right?…And there is tremendous enthusiasm out there. We are going to have peace in this country, we are going to stop crime in this country, we are going to do everything in our power to stop long-simmering racism and every other thing that’s going on.”

Hold on: He mentioned racism, but without any mention of anti-Semitism at all, Trump continued:

“As far as Jewish people – so many friends, a daughter who happens to be here right now, a son-in-law and three beautiful grandchildren – I think that you’re going to see a lot different America in the next three, four years, or eight years…You’re going to see a lot of love.”

This is Donald Trump, who not only has answers but who cannot take the stage without embarrassing the United States with his overwhelming insecurities and need for self-approbation, even when questioned about what are life and death issues for many.
