White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer tried to downplay and minimize the anti-Trump tones expressed by many at the Women’s March on Washington, which was proof that the action taken by millions hurt the new president.
Video of Spicer:
Spicer tried to downplay the women’s march, “A lot of these people were there to protest an issue of concern to them and not against anything…There were people that came to the Mall as they do all the time, sometimes in smaller numbers.”
The press secretary quoted Rep. Debbie Dingell who believed that people were there protesting for many different reasons and that the march was a positive force.
What is clear is that many of the Marchers were there to stand up for their rights, because they feel the threat that is being posed by the new administration.
Here is a video that was shot a block and a half from the White House. To these people Trump was what the protest was about:
When millions of people take to the streets and march, there are going to be many different individual reasons for why they chose to participate. It is an undeniable fact is that for many of the marchers Donald Trump and his agenda were a motivating factor.
Spicer’s attempt to downplay the march was the strongest signal yet from this White House that they not only saw the protest but that the sight of millions of people on the streets all across the country stung them.
The biggest protest in US history won’t be forgotten, and Sean Spicer’s spin can’t hide the reality of millions of pink marchers standing up for what they believe in.
