As Donald Trump held a lackluster pre-inauguration concert at the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday, the real excitement – and star power – was in New York City, where thousands of protesters gathered for a “We Stand United” demonstration near Trump Tower to express their opposition to the man who will be sworn in at noon on Friday.
Thousands more turned out for the gathering in NYC than Trump’s D.C. concert, likely a punch in the gut for the president-elect, who repeatedly emphasizes crowd sizes in his speeches.
While Trump’s concert in D.C. featured has-beens like 3 Doors Down and Jon Voight – yawn – Big Apple protesters were accompanied by big names like Alec Baldwin, Robert De Niro, and Mark Ruffalo, who spoke at the demonstration and joined other New Yorkers in speaking out against the president-elect.

While the NYC gathering was impressive, it’s just the start of what will be a busy weekend for anti-Trump demonstrators all across the country.
As USA Today reported this week, anti-Trump protests will be held in all 50 states and 34 countries around the globe. In D.C. alone, more than a dozen demonstrations are planned for Inauguration Day and hundreds of thousands of protesters are scheduled to participate in a march on Washington the day after Trump is sworn in.
For Trump, these are crowd sizes he won’t be bragging about anytime soon.
