It is being reported that the release of intelligence reports on Russian election interference and Trump are because the Obama administration is putting the pieces into place for a serious investigation into President-elect Donald Trump.
Buried at the bottom of a CNN report about Trump potentially being compromised by Russia was this little nugget, “One high level administration official told CNN, “I have a sense the outgoing administration and intelligence community is setting down the pieces so this must be investigated seriously and run down. I think [the] concern was to be sure that whatever information was out there is put into the system so it is evaluated as it should be and acted upon as necessary.”
The intelligence community within the United States government appears to be doing everything it can to raise red flags about the Trump/Russia connection. It is no accident that the reports and information are being made public before Trump takes office.
The Obama administration and the intelligence community clearly and rightly don’t trust Trump to investigate the Russian hacking. Trump has constantly defended Russia and Putin, so it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that he is going to do everything in his power to bury the investigation.
Obama is giving Congress and the American people the tools needed to investigate Trump.
One of the last great patriotic acts of Obama’s presidency may end up being exposing the Trump/Russia relationship.
