Sen. Harry Reid Says FBI Director James Comey Should be Investigated

Appearing on “AM Joy” with Joy Reid, outgoing Senate minority leader Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) called for the investigation of FBI Director James Comey:

“I think [Comey] should be investigated by the Senate, he should be investigated by other agencies of the government, including the security agencies.”

The reason is obvious, as The Atlantic‘s James Fallows explains:

At face value, this implication:
– Comey/FBI knew of Russian suspicions, kept quiet;
– But HAD to share Weiner news

Asked if he is confident Senate Republicans will “investigate this intervention in our election” Reid said, “Lindsey Graham is a voice of concern.” In Reid’s opinion, Graham could bring in some Republican moderates.

“I am so disappointed in Comey. He has let the country down for partisan purposes, and that’s why I call him the new J. Edgar Hoover,” and said that he believes Comey ought to resign. That won’t happen, however, he said, and pointed out that the new administration has every reason to like Comey since “he helped them get elected.”

Although he added that there is no time for Attorney General Loretta Lynch to remove Comey, calling it a “gesture of futility,” he did say the Senate and the “security agencies” ought to investigate Comey, because, as he put it,

“You look at the accounts we have just in the press the last few days its stunning, stunning, the conclusions reached by the press. Thank goodness we’ve got them still around … this is not fake news, okay?”

After all the times Republicans have spent our tax dollars on investigations into fake scandals they themselves invented, we should be so lucky as to have them investigate something that really happened.

And just to put things in perspective, even deadbeat Tea Party dad Joe Walsh exclaimed in disbelief,

So wait…the CIA says Russia messed with our election to help Trump win and Trump attacks…the CIA? Not Russia? He goes after the CIA?”

As many of us in both parties have said, “we want answers.” It is unknown whether we will get them, or even whether anyone will ask outside of Obama, given Republican control of House and Senate.
