Donald Trump released a late night video that was a hollow and insincere apology that turned into a sleazy attack on Bill and Hillary Clinton that just burned the Republican Party to the ground.
Video:
Trump claimed that the video of him bragging about sexual assault doesn’t reflect who he is. (It does. Trump has been making these sorts of statements since the beginning of his campaign.) Trump admitted that he said it. He was wrong, and he “apologized.”
Donald Trump then called sexual assault a distraction from the real issues and attacked Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Trump said, “I’ve said some foolish things, but there is a big difference between the words and actions of other people. Bill Clinton has actually abused women, and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed, and intimidated his victims.”
Donald Trump was forced to make this video by the Republican Party and his campaign. What the American people saw was a checked out Trump. When Trump doesn’t want to do something, he checks out and delivers a half-hearted effort.
The only time Trump came to life in the video was when he bogusly accused Bill Clinton of abusing women. Trump wasn’t contrite. He wasn’t remorseful. Donald Trump was angry, and his hostage apology video just burned the Republican Party to the ground.
