Sen. Lisa Murkowski tweeted:
The Alaska senators aren’t alone. Republicans in some reddest parts of the country, led my Mormon Republicans in Utah, have been abandoning Trump since the audio of him bragging about sexual assault was published.
What voters are witnessing is the Republican Party abandoning Donald Trump. His Republican voters are showing no signs of leaving him, but a party that hasn’t lifted a finger to campaign for him is formally moving towards the door.
Losing public GOP support is one thing, but the death blow will come for Trump when he loses the financial and organizational infrastructure that the Republican Party is providing. The next step after the loss of public support is going to be a call from these same Republicans that the party stops wasting resources on Trump that could be used to save down ballot candidates.
Donald Trump has lost Alaska, but the worst is yet to come for both the GOP and their nominee.
