Trump’s Republican running mate Indiana Governor Mike Pence was “beside himself” when he heard Donald Trump bragging about sexual assault on a leaked tape.
The AP reported, “Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, was “beside himself” and his wife was furious, according to a person familiar with their thinking. That person spoke on the condition of anonymity, because they were not authorized to share the private discussion.”
Pence initially responded to the leaked tape by fleeing reporters and going into hiding.
Mike Pence doesn’t exactly have the record of a feminist, or even a politician who cares about women’s health at all. When Mike Pence thinks you’ve gone too far in your comments about women, you’ve really jumped the shark.
Donald Trump’s non-apology apology won’t make things any better either, since he basically said sorry if you’re offended but this was a private conversation.
Mike Pence knows this means the death knell for his political future, because he’s tied himself to a man who isn’t just a horrible candidate, but is horrible human being.
Republicans have no one to blame but themselves and their willingness to excuse anything Donald Trump did and said, including his comments suggesting that Hillary Clinton might be assassinated. That was a big clue that this was not a man with whom one should tie their political fortunes.
