During an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway admitted that Donald Trump doesn’t care about the truth, and makes up his own facts.
Video:
It was a brutal three-minute exchange where Conway kept avoiding the question about Trump lying about Lester Holt’s voter registration. The exchange culminated with Conway concluding, “He didn’t lie. A lie would mean that he knew the man’s party registration.”
Mark Halperin asked, “So as president would he say things that are false without knowing if they are true?”
Joe Scarborough interrupted and shifted the conversation to another topic before Conway could answer.
Halperin asked a valid question, and never got an answer. Is it worse that a candidate lies, or that a candidate doesn’t care enough about the facts to learn the truth before he speaks? As President Of The United States, would Donald Trump make things up as he goes along whether they were true or not?
The takeaway from Conway’s meltdown is that Trump cares so little about the truth that saying things that not true doesn’t bother him. One suspects that Trump doesn’t waste a second thinking about facts. Donald Trump will say whatever he needs to say in order to make the sell.
Kellyanne Conway admitted that Donald Trump is making it up as he goes along. This is why Democrats are demanding that he be fact checked at the presidential debate. Hillary Clinton won’t just be facing a liar at the debate. She is squaring off with a man who doesn’t care what the truth is.
