Even RNC Chair Reince Priebus Can’t Sell Trump As Qualified And Ready For Debate

With more than a hint of desperation, RNC Chair Reince Priebus tried to sell Trump as ready for presidential debate because he has been through season finales of The Apprentice.

Video:

Priebus said, “Well, he’s got a group of trusted folks around him, and he’s studying, and he’s preparing, and they’re going through hypotheticals, and what scenarios might come up, and he’s very comfortable. He did a great job in our primary debates. He’s also been through fourteen seasons and season finales. I mean he’s. He will be prepared. He’s always showed up for the big dance, and he will be prepared, and he will be ready to go tonight.”

If the best thing that the chair of the Republican National Committee can say about the party nominee’s debate prep is that he is ready because he has spent years on taped reality television, Republicans might have an even bigger problem than anyone imagined.

The presidential debates are not the same as taped and scripted reality television. Priebus’s answer contained more than a hint of desperation. It almost seemed like Reince was trying to convince himself as much as he was trying to convince everyone else that Trump is ready.

When the chairman of the party can’t convincingly sell his own nominee on debate night, the Republican Party could be screwed.
