President Obama Tears Republicans A New One For Continuing To Support Unfit Trump

We don’t need the Obama anger translator to know how the President feels about Donald Trump. President Obama unlaoded on Donald Trump as unfit to be President during a Tuesday morning presser and then blasted Republicans for continuing to endorse their nominee even as they distance themselves repeatedly from things he has said.

“I think the Republican nominee is unfit to serve as president, I said so last week and he keeps on proving it,” President Obama said during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Watch the full presser here:

Clip here:

That was enough but the President went on to call Trump “woefully unprepared”, “The notion that he would attack a Gold Star Family that made such extraordinary sacrifices on behalf of our country, the fact that he doesn’t appear to have basic knowledge around critical issues around Europe, Middle East, and Asia means that he is woefully unprepared to do this job.

“This is not just my opinion,” the President said. “I think what’s been interesting is the repeated denunciations of his statements by leading Republicans including the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader and prominent Republicans like John McCain.”

Obama blasted Republicans for endorsing Trump, “And the question I think that they have to ask themselves is, if you are repeatedly having to say in very strong terms that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him, what does this say about your party that this is your standard bearer?”

“This isn’t a situation where you have an episodic gaffe, this is daily and weekly where they are distancing themselves from statements he’s making. There has to be a point in which you say this is not somebody I can support for President of the United States, even if he purports to be a member of my party.”

President Obama used the bully pulpit to speak for Americans today when he laid down the law on cowardly Republican leaders who repeatedly run away from the things Trump has said while continuing to act as if the ends justify the means by still endorsing Trump.

“There has to come a point at which you say, ‘Enough’… The alternative is that the entire party effectively endorses and validates the positions that are being articulated (by Trump),” the President said, tying the entire Republican Party to Donald Trump unless they refuse to endorse him.

Republicans wonder how they got to this fresh hell where Donald Trump is their leader. The answer is right in front of their faces and President Obama just laid it out for them. They got here through cowardice and failing to put principle above power.

President Obama has had his very citizenship and right to be President attacked by birther Donald Trump for years, yet he continues to conduct himself like a real leader. Obama didn’t speak up out of spite, or it would have happened a long time ago. He spoke up out of patriotic responsibility.

It’s high time Republicans found some backbone and did what is best for this country. Country first, gentleman. Try it for once.
