Michelle Obama: ‘Don’t Let Anyone Ever Tell You That This Country Isn’t Great’

Michelle Obama delivered a personal and heartfelt speech before the Democratic National Convention on Monday night, making a not-so-veiled swipe at Donald Trump and telling Americans not to “let anyone ever tell you that this country isn’t great.”

The First Lady of the United States said:

I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves. And I watch my daughters, two beautiful, intelligent black young women playing with their dogs on the white House lawn. And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters and all our sons and daughters now take for granted that a woman can be president of the United States. Don’t let anyone ever tell you that this country isn’t great, that somehow we need to make it great again. Because this right now is the greatest country on Earth.

The entire Obama family is the epitome of how great America is and how, no matter who you are or where you come from, you can succeed in this country.  The First Lady’s speech was a direct rebuttal to the argument being made by Republicans that we need to somehow return this country to its rightful owners.

This is a speech that will be rightfully remembered for a long time.
