Paul Ryan Says FBI Finding ‘Defies Explanation,’ Insists Clinton Still Guilty

Paul Ryan was only a little less unhinged than Donald Trump in response to the FBI’s finding that no charges should be pressed against Hillary Clinton over emails on her private server.

Here is Ryan’s statement:

“While I respect the law enforcement professionals at the FBI, this announcement defies explanation. No one should be above the law. But based upon the director’s own statement, it appears damage is being done to the rule of law. Declining to prosecute Secretary Clinton for recklessly mishandling and transmitting national security information will set a terrible precedent. The findings of this investigation also make clear that Secretary Clinton misled the American people when she was confronted with her criminal actions. While we need more information about how the Bureau came to this recommendation, the American people will reject this troubling pattern of dishonesty and poor judgment.”

The Speaker insists he “respects” FBI officials right before he eviscerates their decision not to recommend charges against Hillary Clinton. After setting his own terrible precedent by interfering in foreign affairs and undermining the president at every turn, Ryan insists the FBI’s decision “defies explanation.”

This despite the FBI explaining their decision in concise English presumably even Ryan can understand. The system did what the system is supposed to do. That Ryan doesn’t like the decision doesn’t mean it wasn’t the correct decision. We see the same reaction to the Supreme Court when it rules against the GOP, while it earns nothing but praise when SCOTUS finds in the GOP’s favor.

Paul Ryan’s reaction, not the FBI’s decision, defies explanation. Legislators make laws; they don’t get to decide who has broken them. We have a judicial system for that, including the FBI.

Ryan says “no one should be above the law” but that is precisely what he wants for his GOP. Just as his House continually insists we need more information on Benghazi, now we will hear the same endless demand about Clinton’s emails. The trouble is, there will never be enough information to satisfy him if it doesn’t say what he wants it to say.

No matter how much evidence exists to prove Clinton is not responsible for the Benghazi attack, or that she did nothing illegal with her emails, Ryan & Co. will insist that she is guilty, once against rejecting the system of laws upon which our nation is founded.

As with Benghazi, stay tuned for more Republican committees, hearings, and wastage of tax payer dollars on an issue settled several times over.
