Trump’s Campaign Is So Broke That He Is Holding A Telethon To Raise Money

Donald Trump is so broke that he is holding a telethon and personally promising to match donations to his presidential campaign over the next 48 hours.

According to FEC filings, Trump raised $3.2 million in May and had just under $1.3 million in cash. In contrast, Hillary Clinton raised $26 million in May and had $42 million in cash on hand.

Trump told NBC’s Today, “I understand money far better than anybody. I understand money better than Hillary….We’ve raised a lot of money, but we’ve also got to have some help from the party.” Trump also said that if he has to, he will self-fund his campaign.

Jim Acosta of CNN reported that Trump has gone all telethon and is offering to personally match donations for the next 48 hours:

Trump claimed to have raised $12 million over the weekend, but if his campaign is flush with cash, why is running a telethon where he is personally matching donations for the next 48 hours? If Trump has so much money, why did he cap the amount that he would match at $2 million? The reality is that Donald Trump has no plans to donate any money to his campaign. Trump hasn’t donated a single dollar to his campaign. Instead, he has been loaning money to his campaign, which he will get back after he is the official nominee from the RNC.

Donald Trump spent the entire Republican primary telling GOP voters how rich he is, but now that he is the nominee, he is begging them for cash. The Trump campaign told Senate Republicans in May that they were broke, and would have no money until after the convention, , so the news that he has nothing in the bank is not a big surprise.

Trump is broke, and he is expecting Republicans to pick up the tab for his failing campaign.

After eight years of obstruction, bigotry, and racism, Republicans are finally getting what they deserve with Donald J. Trump as their presidential nominee.
