Watch A Simple Policy Question Turn Trump Into A Sarah Palin Level Babbling Mess

When Face The Nation host John Dickerson asked Trump what the policy difference was between the candidate and the NRA on no-fly no buy legislation in Congress, the answer he got was a rambling, empty meltdown.

Video:

Trump said:

Well my position is I’m dealing with the NRA and have great respect for them and Wayne and Chris and all of the people up there. These are great people. These are people who love their country incredibly, and I don’t think they get enough credit for it, but I am dealing with the NRA. As you know, they gave me their endorsement, one of the earliest endorsements they’ve ever given for a presidential candidate. I’m a member of the NRA. My two sons are members of the NRA for a long time. I’m talking to them about the whole concept of terror watch list. Should we take somebody directly off it if they’re on? If there is a terror watch list if somebody’s on should they be allowed to buy a gun? Now, we understand that there are problems with that because some people are on the terror watch list who shouldn’t be on. You understand that happens. We work very hard to reverse that, and we work very hard diligently to get them off the list if they indeed shouldn’t be on the list, so I’m working with the NRA. We’re discussing it, and again, the NRA has the best interests of our country, you know has the absolute best interests of our country. They want to make the right decision. These are great people, and these are great Americans.

Nowhere in Trump’s answer was there an actual policy. Trump’s “policy” is that he is talking to the NRA. Talking to the NRA is not a policy.

The rest of Trump’s answer was a rambling, incoherent mess, where the Republican nominee tried to cover up the fact that he doesn’t have a policy, and has no intention of having a serious policy discussion with the NRA about anything.

Donald Trump comes off like the kid giving an oral book report in front of the whole class who never read the book. Trump is too lazy to study, so he is trying to charm and b.s. his way through the campaign. His response to a question about gun policy was some Sarah Palin level babble.

Trump is melting down because the con that was good enough to get the Republican Party’s nomination is crumbling under the scrutiny of a general election campaign.

Republicans shouldn’t be surprised by Trump’s slide in the polls because that is what they get for nominating a wealthier more media savvy version of Sarah Palin.
