Paul Ryan Threatens To Sue Donald Trump As The GOP Ship Continues To Sink

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is already threatening to sue Donald Trump if he wins the White House.

In a Huffington Post interview, the Republican Speaker Of The House threatened to sue Trump if he is elected and abuses his executive powers:

On the topic of Trump’s proposed Muslim ban and his statements that he could enact such a policy without Congress, Ryan noted that Republicans were releasing part of their agenda on executive overreach that very day, and, in news that’s sure to please Trump, Ryan suggested that he and the House of Representatives were prepared to sue a Republican president if need be.

“I would sue any president that exceeds his or her powers,” Ryan said.

It’s unclear, however, if Ryan thinks Trump enacting a ban on Muslims entering the country would actually exceed presidential powers. “That’s a legal question that there’s a good debate about,” Ryan said, pointing to the 1952 Immigration and Nationality Act.

Speaker Ryan was following Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s lead with a claim that he can control Trump. Elected Republicans are trying to reassure voters that they will be able to keep their potential president’s crazy in check.

This could be the worst selling point ever in U.S. political history. Sure our nominee is a crazed xenophobic, racist, bigot, but go ahead and elect him, because we got this.

The same Republicans in Congress, who shut down the government, who nearly caused a worldwide economic collapse by pushing the U.S. into default, and who struggle to pass any legislation, want voters to know that there won’t be any problems if Donald Trump wins the White House.

When the Speaker of the House is already threatening to sue the man running for president on his own party’s ticket, it is a signal that the Republican Party is breaking apart.

If there is no unity during the 2016 campaign, there will be even less unity if Trump wins.

Captain Trump is sinking the GOP ship, which is why Paul Ryan is running for the lawsuit lifeboat.
