Hillary Clinton Scores Two More Victories in New Mexico and South Dakota

After completely blowing out Bernie Sanders in New Jersey on Tuesday night, presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton coasted to two surprising victories in New Mexico and South Dakota – two states Sanders was expected to do well in.

The two states have been mostly overlooked due to the heavy focus on delegate-rich states like New Jersey and California, but Clinton’s ability to win somewhat unexpected victories in New Mexico and South Dakota show that Democratic voters are rallying around their presumptive nominee.

Instead of continuing to drag on the Democratic primary fight, it’s obvious that left-leaning voters are ready to turn the page and fight to prevent a dangerous Donald Trump from winning the White House. Clinton’s increased focus on Trump, including her widely-praised smackdown of Trump last week, is evidence that the former Secretary of State has also started to move into the general election phase of the campaign.

Her handful of wins tonight were only icing on the cake of a nomination that has mathematically been in her possession for months.

Sanders did win the North Dakota Democratic caucus by a wide margin, although it’s a moot point given the fact that it is the smallest delegate prize of the night and Clinton has already secured enough delegates to be declared the presumptive nominee.
