Michigan Republicans aren’t fooling anyone. Activists aren’t slowing down their pursuit of Gov. Rick Snyder after three individuals were charged with crimes relating to the Flint water crisis.
A statement from the Agenda Project dropped some bad news on Gov. Snyder:
Today, two state workers and one city employee were charged with a litany of crimes related to the crisis. In a press conference, Governor Snyder called the charges “troubling” and said that they “raise what happened to a whole new level” — the Agenda Project Action Fund agrees with this assessment, but think it needs to be raised to yet ANOTHER level: charges against the Governor himself.
“While these initial charges are a start in ensuring the residents of Flint see that justice is served, those who are truly responsible have yet to be held accountable,” said Agenda Project Action Fund President Erik Altieri, “We will not stop fighting until Governor Snyder is removed from office. His actions are a perfect portrayal of Republican priorities: they let diseases spread, they let crucial infrastructure deteriorate, and they forced the residents of Flint to watch their children suffer and neighbors died, all in the name of the almighty dollar. “
No one should be fooled. The three individuals who were charged were not solely responsible for the water crisis in Flint. The people who bear ultimate responsibility for the poisoning of children and the Legionnaires outbreak are appointees of the governor, and the governor himself. Gov. Snyder is responsible for the deaths and illnesses in Flint, Michigan.
What Gov. Snyder did was criminal, and no one should rest until he is lead out of his Ann Arbor residence in handcuffs.
