Hillary Clinton Crushes Trump’s “Business Experience” During CNN’s Final Five

Hillary Clinton crushed the entire premise behind Donald Trump’s campaign during an interview on CNN’s Final Five special.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked former Sec. of State Clinton if the skills used in business are the same as those used in statecraft.

Clinton answered, “Well, if you run a business, and I’ve heard this from many many business leaders, you have much more authority and control over your employees than if you are the president or the leader of a democracy. Political decision making, listening to the full range of voices and opinions is something that our founders highly valued, as do I. So I think that there is in general a difference, and I think a lot of the behavior we’ve seen from him raises some very specific questions about what he would do.”

As Clinton pointed out the problem with a business person running the government is that the government is not a business. There is no profit motive in the public section. A business only has to satisfy one constituency, its customers. The government represents an entire diverse country. Donald Trump is used to his employees doing what he tells them to do. Trump has no experience in telling the Congress to pass a bill, and the Congress says no. Trump has no experience in dealing with a bureaucracy that views the president as temporary.

Trump has no idea about the very limited powers of the presidency, but as Clinton suggested, his behavior on the campaign trail suggests that he is ill-equipped to function in a governmental environment. It doesn’t matter if Trump wrote The Art Of The Deal. Running a government is not the same as making a business deal.

The entire premise of Trump’s campaign is that business success equals governmental success, but the reality is that Trump would be a complete fish out of water who would have no idea how to get things done as president. There would be an immense learning curve for Trump, and his presidency would likely be a complete failure.

Hillary Clinton crushed the rationale for Trump’s campaign, because the government isn’t a business, and the country doesn’t have time for amateur hour from the Oval Office.
