Bernie Sanders unloaded on Republicans for spending trillions of dollars on the war in Iraq, but claiming that there is no money for the people of Flint.
Sanders said:
How does it happen in the wealthiest country in the history of the world? What are our priorities when among others Republicans today are fighting for hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks for the wealthiest people. How did we have so much money available to go to war in Iraq and spend trillions of dollars, but somehow not have enough money, not just for Flint? The Secretary is right. There are communities all over this country. It is infrastructure. It is education. Detriot’s public school system is collapsing.
Anderson, the bottom line is what my campaign is is changing our national priorities. We need a government that works for all of us, not just wealthy campaign contributors.
The Democratic debate in Flint is living up to expectations. Clinton and Sanders are unloading on Republicans and discussing the needs of Flint. Sanders pointed out the difference between the two candidates on trade agreements. Sen. Sanders brought up a great point. Republicans are arguing about the funding for aid to the people of Flint, but there was a bottomless supply of money for the war in Iraq.
Republicans spent trillions of dollars on the Iraqi people, but when it comes to helping people who were poisoned by one of their own, Republicans are dragging their feet on aid to Flint.
The point that Bernie Sanders made needs to be hammered home by every Democrat nationwide until Republicans vote for a proper bill to aid Flint.
