The fallout from Donald Trump’s refusal to disavow the support of David Duke and the KKK has been so severe that MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said that the Republican frontrunner has disqualified himself from the White House.

Scarborough said, “That is disqualifying right there. To say you don’t know about the Ku Klux Klan? You don’t know about David Duke? And the most stunning thing is. This isn’t buying him a single vote. Is he really so stupid that he think southerners aren’t offended by the Ku Klux Klan and David Duke? Is he really so ignorant of Southern voters that he thinks this is the way to their heart — to go neutral, to play Switzerland when you’re talking about the Klan? And to say he doesn’t know enough information about the Klan to condemn them — exactly what does Donald Trump expect to learn in the next 24 hours about the Klan. I don’t get it.”
Willie Geist added, “It’s hard to imagine an easier political question than will you disavow David Duke and the Klu Klux Klan. Unless you don’t want to really disavow David Duke and the Klu Klux Klan because you think that sends a signal to some fraction of the voters who you need to hold on to for Super Tuesday. Will this hurt him on Super Tuesday? Maybe not. But if you start looking ahead, if you believe that Donald Trump is the nominee to a general election, and a television ad in which Donald Trump will not disavow the Klu Klux Klan and you know as a Republicans you have to win a share of black voters, a share of Latino voters, or any voters.”
Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have been Trump BFF’s all through the campaign. Trump is a regular guest on Morning Joe, who got lobbed softballs by Brzezinski and Scarborough for months. Leaked behind the scenes audio of Trump, Scarborough, and Brzezinski revealed a chummy relationship between the Morning Joe hosts and the Republican frontrunner. Scarborough and Brzezinski have been roundly criticized by media watchdogs for their conflict of interest and support of Trump.
Anyone with eyes could see this coming. How is it a surprise that the same candidate who called Mexicans murderers and rapists, and wants to ban all Muslims, also refuses to disavow the KKK?
Scarborough, Brzezinski, and MSNBC can be shocked by Trump, but they knowingly gave him a platform to spread his racist hate. MSNBC sold itself out for ratings by letting Morning Joe and Trump run wild on their network.
No one in the media was friendlier to Trump than Scarborough and Brzezinski. If Trump has lost the support of Morning Joe, he has also lost the support of the mainstream press.
