Bernie Sanders Begins a Critical Swing Through New Hampshire Today

The Sanders campaign begins a two-day swing through New Hampshire today. It has been announced that “A meeting with students in Nashua kicks off the trip, which also includes stops in Hollis, Rochester and Hampton. Sanders will discuss a wide range of issues, including criminal justice reform, his newly released plan to combat climate change, getting big money out of politics and his college affordability plan.”

Here is the announced itinerary:

Monday, December 14
1:30 p.m. Meeting with Students, Nashua Community College, 505 Amherst Street, Nashua. Information for the public: This event is open to local students.

3:30 p.m. Meet and Greet with Supporters, Salem Field Office, 254 North Broadway, Suite 112, Salem.

5:30 p.m. Hollis Town Hall, Lawrence Barn Community Center, 28 Depot Road, Hollis. Information for the public: This is a ticketed event, and tickets are limited.

Tuesday, December 15
3:30 p.m. Meeting with Seniors, McConnell Center, Cafeteria Dining Room, 61 Foster Street, Dover.

5:30 p.m. Rochester Office Opening, 56 N Main Street, Rochester.
Information for the public: Doors open at 4:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, but an RSVP is strongly encouraged. Admission is first come, first served.

7 p.m. Hampton Town Hall, Winnacunnet High School, 1 Alumni Drive, Hampton. Information for the public: Doors open at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, but an RSVP is strongly encouraged. Admission is first come, first served.

This is an important trip for Sanders. MSNBC reported Saturday that Sanders is counting on a win in New Hampshire, where the latest polls show him to be 10 points ahead of Hillary Clinton but where polling has see-sawed back and forth, “to give him the momentum he needs to continue fighting Hillary Clinton into the spring. And that makes the state potentially the most important of the early nominating contests.”

Sanders may need to win both Iowa and New Hampshire to pose a clear, mortal threat to Clinton. But a win in either state will keep him and his message alive to fight another day.

A win in neither would be the end of the line.

Fox News reports that Republican pollster Daron Shaw agrees where Iowa and New Hampshire are concerned. A Fox News poll released Sunday shows Clinton ahead in Iowa by double-digits.

Sanders spent the weekend in Iowa, including stops in Dubuque and Waterloo, where he repeated his call for “change in America” to “create an economy that works for the middle class and working families, not just a handful of billionaires.”
