In response to the terrorist attacks in Paris, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) called the terrorist cowards and stood in solidarity with France.
In a statement, Sen. Sanders said, “We are all horrified by the cowardly attacks against innocent civilians in Paris. I offer my sympathy to the victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with the people of France, the first friend of the United States.”
It is being reported that at least 153 people are dead. Over 100 of the deaths occurred at the Bataclan Concert Hall. The Guardian is reporting that at least 150 people lost their lives in the concert hall alone. According to eyewitness accounts, gunmen entered the hall and began firing down on the crowd uninterrupted for fifteen minutes.
Sen. Sanders is correct. The actions of the terrorists were cowardly. If the attack was carried out by ISIS, this could be the event that rallies the world into a unified effort against an organization that has moved more into international terrorism. At publication time, no organization has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Whether one is liberal or conservative, Democrat, Republican, or Independent, all Americans agree that we stand with our French allies against these acts of terror.
