Republicans Bomb As Latino Group Immediately Blasts GOP For Out Of Touch Debate

Moments after the Republican debate ended, a top Latino group blasted the Republican candidates for an out of touch debate that catered to corporations, while spewing anti-immigrant rhetoric.

Pili Tobar, Spokesperson for Latino Victory Project said in a statement:

Tonight’s debate further solidified the fact that the Republican presidential candidates are out of touch with the Latino community. Latinos and the American people need and deserve a higher minimum wage; people are struggling to make ends meet and to provide for their families, yet Republican presidential candidates are catering to corporations and special interests, putting more money in their pockets instead of standing behind our families.

While the anti-immigrant rhetoric de-escalated in this debate, we still haven’t heard a solid plan from any Republican candidate on how they would protect our community from deportation and how they would get immigration reform through Congress. At the end of the day it’s still Republican leadership who are blocking reform in Congress for purely political reasons. We need to hear real plans and solutions for the 11 million undocumented people in this country who live in fear.

Republicans are already taking a victory lap because they feel that they successfully santized their debate, but the one thing that they could not clean up was their vicious anti-immigrant rhetoric.

Donald Trump believes that he is Dwight D. Eisenhower, and can ship all 11 million immigrants out of the country. Ted Cruz was standing right beside Trump on the immigrant bashing. What Latino voters saw on the debate stage was a party that put their bigotry towards immigrants on full display.

Republicans desperately need a good showing with Latino voters to have any hope of winning the White House in 2016, but their debates are only serving to push more of these voters into the Democratic column. The Republican debates have been great for the Democratic Party because Republicans just can’t hide the fact that they are the anti-immigrant party, and they take pride in having no plans or policies for the future.
