Trump Will Speak at Values Voter Summit’s Orgy of Hate This Weekend

Last updated on July 17th, 2023 at 06:13 pm

Donald Trump may have divorced himself from Fox News, but he’s throwing himself into Evangelical arms this weekend by speaking at the so-called Values Voter Summit. This is the yearly conference hosted by Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council, where Republican candidates can pretend they’re in Iowa and, as Right Wing Watch’s Brian Tashman puts it, deliver “bigoted remarks and self-righteous tirades,” all while nestled safely within the bosom of their fellow haters.

You wanted it, you got it: Donald Trump in the VVS15! Who says there is no God? Who says he doesn’t listen to prayers? In every way that matters, this event, this year especially, is the Religious Right’s answer to Pope Francis.

When FRC tweeted the news by posting the photo above, one commenter cracked, ” I thought this was an Onion article at first.” But it’s not! It’s true! It’s just that nearly everything the Religious Right does belongs on the Onion.

You want to know how Trump feels about God? He feels bombastically of course. He told David Brody of “The Broady File” at the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) yesterday that God is the big deal-maker in the sky:

Well I say God is the ultimate. You know you look at this? Here we are on the Pacific Ocean. How did I ever own this? I bought it fifteen years ago. I made one of the great deals they say ever. I have no more mortgage on it as I will certify and represent to you. And I was able to buy this and make a great deal. That’s what I want to do for the country. Make great deals. We have to, we have to bring it back, but God is the ultimate. I mean God created this (points to his golf course and nature surrounding it), and here’s the Pacific Ocean right behind us. So nobody, no thing, no there’s nothing like God.

That’s right. God is huge!

Brody explains to viewers that,

Trump hasn’t been “versed” (pun intended) in the evangelical Christian vernacular throughout his life so he’s going to speak in more generalities. The question evangelical voters are going to have to decide on is whether they are comfortable enough with Trump’s faith and the way he expresses it or are they looking for something deeper in a candidate from a faith perspective?

Deeper indeed. The depths of Donald Trump’s theology can be plumbed by an ant.

And Trump’s appearance is not the most Onion-ish of the day, as The Washington Times celebrated in a tweet:

That’s right. The Religious Right is so excited about the Pope standing up for Religious Freedom…

…that they’re inviting a person who champions religious tyranny by trying to force her religious views on others. And don’t forget, Friday she gets her Excellence in Bigotry – er, um…I mean her “Cost of Discipleship” award.

And again, it’s not the Onion. Perhaps anticipating the backlash – and there has been backlash – Perkins tweeted that, “As Christians we may have different passions, perspectives & priorities, but we all share the same purpose – to glorify God! 1 Cor 12:12.”

So Trump is glorifying God by being a total a**hat. I wondered. Thanks for clearing that up, Tony.

Other invited speakers are Dr. Ben Carson, Sen. Ted Cruz, Gov. Mike “I love Rapists and Child Molesters” Huckabee, Gov. Bobby Jindal, Sen. Marco Rubio, and Sen. Rick “Don’t Hate on the Crusades” Santorum. Even Sen. Lindsey Graham is willing to crawl out from under his bed to speak to the sheeple.

You can bet that his fellow candidates are just thrilled to share the stage with Trump yet again. It’s worked so well for them in the past.

According to Tony Perkins,

“Those candidates coming to the Summit are showing that they value social conservative voters and want to have a conversation with them. We will encourage attendees to take the candidates’ presence into account as they cast their vote in the straw poll.”

Besides the candidates and Kim Davis, there will be a lot of familiar faces present to spread their lies and distortions:

Sen. John McCain, Gov. Rick Perry, David and Jason Benham, Dr. Bill Bennett, Gov. Sam Brownback, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, Brigitte Gabriel, Rep. Louie Gohmert, bakers Aaron and Melissa Klein, Mark Levin, Rep. Mark Meadows, Lt. Col. Oliver North, Star Parker, Joel Rosenberg, and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. Another attendee is Kentucky clerk Casey Davis, who is not related to Kim Davis but is equally bigoted.

The FRC tells us that,

The 10th annual Values Voter Summit will be held from September 25-27 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. FRC Action’s Values Voter Summit is cosponsored by AFA Action, American Values, Liberty Institute, Ohio Christian University School of Business and Government, and Family Research Council. An exhibit hall, book signings, radio row, new media row, and much more will be packed into this three-day conference.

And don’t worry about missing even a minute of it, because it’s going to be live-streamed:

This weekend will be a wild and woolly one with a spring break-like atmosphere breaking out at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, as pent up sexual lust and confusion erupts in an orgy of unreasoning hate of all people everywhere not prisoners of a completely convoluted religious ideology. It’s like Christmas without the Christ, Easter without a dead Jesus, and a Nuremberg rally all in one. Don’t forget to buy your popcorn, and above all, stay tuned!
