Anarchy In The GOP: Fox News Responds To Boycott By Trashing Donald Trump

Last updated on July 17th, 2023 at 06:13 pm

In case there is any doubt that Fox and Trump are engaging in total media warfare, Fox News reacted to Donald Trump’s announced boycott of the network by trashing the GOP frontrunner.

Earlier in the day, Donald Trump announced that he would no longer appear on Fox News due to what he called unfair treatment.

A Fox News spokesperson responded to Trump by telling PoliticusUSA:

“At 11:45 am today, we canceled Donald Trump’s scheduled appearance on The O’Reilly Factor on Thursday, which resulted in Mr. Trump’s subsequent tweet about his ‘boycott’ of FOX News. The press predictably jumped to cover his tweet, creating yet another distraction from any real issues that Mr. Trump might be questioned about. When coverage doesn’t go his way, he engages in personal attacks on our anchors and hosts, which has grown stale and tiresome. He doesn’t seem to grasp that candidates telling journalists what to ask is not how the media works in this country.”

Fox has completely unloaded on Trump. The network is accusing Trump of being a whiner who doesn’t understand how the free press operates.

The exchange between Trump and Fox News is unprecedented. Fox News is the top conservative media outlet in the country. Nothing else comes close to the near monopoly that Fox News has over the conservative cable news audience.

Political candidates complain about their media coverage all of the time, but it is unheard of for the frontrunner for the Republican nomination to attack Fox News. It is even more unheard of for the network to respond by trashing the Republican frontrunner.

The feud between Trump and Fox News is really a battle for control of the conservative audience. Fox News is marginalized Trump’s candidacy, and while they have a valid point about his definition of fairness, the network has now been fully sucked into a feud with Donald Trump.

The Republican Party’s bad day has gotten a whole lot worse.
