Here’s your answer for whether or not the Iraq War was a mistake, and for statements of fact, like, “Jeb, your brother, before he took up painting nudes of himself bathing, created ISIL.”
You didn’t know there was an answer that made Bush the greatest military mind of the 20th or any other century, if not for one, single, black, Muslim terrorist sympathizer named Barack Obama, did you?
Well, there is, and it comes out of the mouth of Rep. Louie “How the **** Did I Get Elected? I Mean, **** I’m Not Even Qualified to be a Dog Catcher on the South Pole” Gohmert (R-TX).
Was the Iraq War a mistake, Louie, you “student of history”?
“[I]f President Bush had known that he would have a total incompetent follow him…he would have to think twice…”
Of course, Gohmert is not alone. The Orange Man has spoken too:
What gains, you ask? Save your breath. As Jeb has reminded us, Dubya is our problem, not his. Or the Republican Party’s, it seems.
So no worries here about a rush to war against a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, and in fact, was as opposed to al Qaeda as we were, about constantly shifting lies and excuses for invading, about non-existent WMDs, about tens – perhaps hundreds – of thousands of dead Iraqis and millions of refugees, about a thoroughly bungled occupation and reconstruction characterized by torture, graft, and corruption, and resultant destabilization of the entire Middle East which led to the creation of ISIL.
But Gohmert says, “I don’t trust this administration.”
THIS administration? I can’t remember the last country President Obama invaded on a false pretext, or on any pretext. I can’t remember a war George W. Bush won, honestly or dishonestly.
Mission Accomplished? Only if your plan was to destroy America’s reputation and the world’s economy along with Saddam Hussein’s regime.
Seems a steep price-tag to me.
Yet for Gohmert, the problem here isn’t that the American people were lied to by the Bush administration as it led us into an illegal war so they could plunder an oil-rich country for personal gain. Nossir.
The problem is that Bush would apparently somehow be going down in history as a new Alexander the Great if not for his successor, Barack H. Obama.
The argument seems to be that Barack Obama retroactively pulled defeat out of the jaws of victory and destroyed George W. Bush’s presidency.
Even in Texas, how does a guy like Louie Gohmert get elected?
This is what he told Virginia talk radio host John Fredericks in response to efforts by Virginia’s Sen. Tim Kaine to obtain for President Obama a new Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) against the Islamic State – you know, the guys who have the Republicans shaking in their undies:
So, thank you very much, Mr. Kaine, but you need to tell your buddy in the Democratic Party to actually start fighting our enemies and quit helping our enemies and help our friends instead and quit worrying about a new AUMF. He would be able to defeat ISIS if he just starts helping our friends and stops helping the enemies.
Tell us what you really think, Senator Gohmert.
“That AUMF, it’s a red herring, it’s a crock. The problem is the president’s on the wrong side. That’s the real problem.”
Because Texas. I don’t know how else to explain this **** other than the failure of Santa Anna to subjugate these people back in 1836. All hope for the future fled with that missed opportunity.
That’s right, Louie Gohmert wasn’t finished spewing the contents of his lower intestine:
I mean, seriously, John, you think a new AUMF is all of a sudden going to give us a president that will fight with the right people over there and win over there, really?
Everybody else wants to ask that question of, ‘Gee, would you have gone into Iraq if you’d known what you know now?’ And I think if President Bush had known that he would have a total incompetent follow him that would not even be able to negotiate a status of forces agreement with Iraq and start helping our enemies and just totally put the Middle East in chaos, then he would have to think twice about doing anything if he had known he would have such a total incompetent leader take over after him. That should be the question.
Well, you know…the SOFA was negotiated and agreed to by George W. Bush. Obama simply honored it rather than re-invading a country that never wanted us there in the first place.
No, the question should be, why are you an elected official and not bothering other patients in a psychiatric ward?
Louie told a Tea Party gathering in Houston back in January that,
As a student of history, and I still am a student history, the only way a guy like me could ever get elected to be speaker would be is if we were during a time of all-out war and people had figured, ‘Wow, Louie’s been right all along and maybe we should give him a chance.’ That’s the only — we’re not going to elect me in a time of undeclared war and I know that and I understood that.
I got news for you, Louie. Not even in time of war. Especially not in time of war. But I bet we can get you a job on a dude ranch, because you seem to know a lot about bull****.
